|Has your air conditioner seen better days? Are you dreading the thought of costly AC repairs and/or high energy bills this summer? You may want to take a look at all your options. Right now the timing couldn’t be better to consider purchasing a newer, efficient, eco-friendlier cooling system. There are incentives in place to make the purchase easier on your wallet.
2012 Xcel Energy Rebates Can Save You Money
Right now Xcel Energy is offering rebates of up to $400 on the purchase of a qualified cooling system, based on its SEER/EER ratings. The higher the SEER (Seasonal Energy Efficiency Ratio) specification, the more efficient the equipment is. EER stands for Energy Efficient Rating, a measure of how environmentally friendly your system is, so to speak. To get the maximum rebate, your SEER/EER ratings need to be in a specific range. For example, for a rebate of $225, the SEER rating needs to be between 14.5- 14.9 and the EER should be about 12. For a $300 rebate, SEER should be at 15, while the EER should be at 12.5. For the $400 rebate, the system should have a SEER of 16 with an EER of 13. Sound complicated? Rumpca Services can help you decide what system is best for your needs. But the long and short of it is that the higher the SEER rating, the more efficient the system. You should consider energy efficiency, along with performance, reliability, and cost, in your decision-making.
Benefits of the New Air Conditioning Systems
Some of the benefits of installing a new system include the currently available rebates to help lower the initial cost of the equipment. High efficiency equipment costs less to operate, and using less energy is better for the environment. Newer air conditioning systems use R410A refrigerant that is also less expensive and more environmentally friendly than the R22 refrigerant that is being mandatorily phased out. The older refrigerants contribute to ozone depletion. In addition, they also contribute significantly to global warming. Older R22 refrigerant cost significantly more than the newer, eco-friendly R410A refrigerant, and will be difficult to find for repairs of older systems. New systems are designed to run more efficiently, saving you money in the long run, as well as being better for the environment. Your contractor may also be able to help you to save money in other ways, by informing you of special manufacturer promotions. Lennox currently has a promotion that can save you money towards the purchase of a new energy efficient system. The timing couldn’t be better to consider a new cooling system.
